With the holiday tournaments behind them and the school break complete, Class AAAAAA girls basketball teams have turned their attention to the heart of the schedule and the final month of the regular season.

There are no remaining undefeated teams, although top-ranked Lovejoy (15-3) is unbeaten against Georgia opponents. The Wildcats’ losses have come against DeSoto and Duncanville of Texas and Riverdale of Tennessee. All three teams are ranked in the top 25 nationally by MaxPreps. Lovejoy, the defending state champion, is 9-0 in Region 4, one-and-a-half games ahead of second-ranked Forest Park and No. 6 Stephenson. Lovejoy beat Forest Park 58-56 in overtime on Dec. 8, and the teams meet again at Lovejoy on Jan. 29.

Lovejoy is one of 13 teams that are unbeaten in region games (four of which haven’t begun region play). Among the teams that are in prime position to earn a No. 1 seed in the region tournaments are fifth-ranked Douglas County (12-4, 7-0) in Region 5 and third-ranked Northview (12-3, 8-0) in Region 7.

Here’s a look at the girls region standings going into Tuesday’s games (with region records, followed by overall records). Note that the records are taken from MaxPreps, the official record-keeper for the Georgia High School Association, and that some of those records have not been fully updated.
