Tournament roundup: Marist wins AAC Invitational

The Marist boys won the High School Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Andrew Lafferty was medalist with a 69 and Marist won the High School Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Club’s Highland Course, former site of the PGA Championship and U.S. Open.

Teammate Braden Jones shot 71 and Harry White added a 75 for the War Eagles, who scored a 215, which was good enough to beat Woodward Academy by two shots.

Woodward was led by Connor Asarch and Mitchel Kahlert with 71s and George Stradtman with 75.

Rounding out the top ten teams were: Mill Creek at 220, Johns Creek at 225, Greater Atlanta Christian at 225, Wilson Hall (S.C.) at 228, Westminster at 229, Brookstone at 235, Lambert at 236 and Walker at 237.

The Girls Invitational, contested on the Riverside Course, was won by Abigail Bolt of Woodstock with a 73. Bolt has signed with Appalachian State.

Amy Ng of Johns Creek was one shot behind at 74, followed by Christyn Carr of Northview at 75.

There was no team competition in the girls division.

Creekview captures Trojan Invitational: Brady Thomas shot 72 and Walker Winslette shot 73 to help Creekview win the Trojan Invitation, hosted by Carrollton High School at Sunset Hills Country Club. Creekview also got a 74 from Brady Keran and a 78 from Jack Vajda to post a winning 297.

Darlington finished second at 301 behind medalist Peter Hinnant, who shot a 71. Lindsey Cordell had a 76 and Carter Anderson and Alec Patterson both shot 77 for the Tigers.

Starr’s Mill shot 306 to finish third behind Luke Phillips’ 73. Justin Gahlhoff of Holy Innoncents’ also shot 73.

Neil Graham Trojan Invitational: Will Spivey from Coffee High was medalist at the Neil Graham Invitational at the Douglas Golf and Country Club. Spivey shot a 1-under 71.

Lafayette Invitational: The host Lafayette boys shot a 298 to beat First Presbyterian Day by five shots at the Lafayette Golf Course. Wesley Hansley led FPD with a 74.

Coal Mountain Classic: South Forsyth won the Coal Mountain Classic at the Hampton Golf Village in Cumming. The tournament used a Stableford points system and South Foryth had 120 points, followed by Lambert with 112 and North Forsyth with 109. Bartley Forrester of North Hall was the medalist.

Athens Classic: Will Kahlstorf shot a 67 to lead Prince Avenue Christian to victory in the Athens Classic. Prince Avenue shot a 297 team total, which was six shots better than Lafayette in the event hosted at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

West Hall Invitational: Kate Owens shot a 78 to lead West Hall to the win at Chateau Elan.
