Tennis: South Forsyth boys and girls advance in state playoffs

South Forsyth boys tennis earned a 3-1 win against Parkview in the first round of the Class 7A state tournament Tuesday at home.

The War Eagles advance to play the winner of Hillgrove-Tift County.

South got wins at No. 1 singles by Will Fullett (6-1, 6-1), No. 2 singles by Jack Fullett (6-0, 6-1) and No. 2 dobules by Sahil Balhara and Vincent Wu (6-0, 6-1).

The War Eagles’ win means both South tennis teams are moving on in the state tournament. The girls team defeated Lakeside-DeKalb, 3-0, on Monday.

Both are making the most of their first state playoff appearances in several years. The boys’ last appearance came in 2012, while the girls came in 2008.
