Peach County football player killed in car wreck

FootballA Peach County football player was killed after he lost control of the SUV he was driving in a curve in Byron on Saturday evening, according to the Macon Telegraph.

Raekwon Smith was a senior offensive and defensive lineman. He was 18.

Peach County corner Kerry Rooks told the newspaper that Smith’s vehicle flipped and landed in a ditch. There were three other passengers in the car, and two were transported to a Macon hospital, the newspaper reported. The severity of their injuries were unknown. The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m.

Peach County plays its first regular-season game on Friday at home against Houston County, the No. 1-ranked team in Class AAAAAA.
