New HOF class announced

The 2017 inductees in the McIntosh High School Hall of Fame have been announced in advance of the seventh annual induction weekend, scheduled for Oct. 13-14.

This year’s Distinguished Alumni is Brycen Counts (1992) — Jr. Olympian during high school in gymnastics; member of Cal Berkeley’s 1996 NCAA runner-up men’s gymnastics team; currently working in Hollywood as a stunt performer with more than 40 film credits.

Athlete inductees include:

Harold Baro (1989) — varsity letters in football and baseball; played wide receiver & defensive back; set MHS record and led region in interceptions; member of 1990 Georgia Tech national championship football team.

Tracy Furr (1989) — varsity letters in softball, basketball and soccer; first MHS softball player ever to be named to All-State team; two region championships, state runner-up and state third place.

Katie Schulz (2005) — two-time high school All-American and three-time All State in soccer; at Vanderbilt, two-time first team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman team; three-year team captain.

Dion Stokes (1999) — varsity letters in football and track; led region with 1,652 all purpose yards as MHS running back; rushed for 946 yds in 1998; county offensive player of the year; third in state for long jump; ranked as one of the better defensive backs in Georgia Southern history.

The 1995 state champion girls soccer team will also be recognized during the Hall of fame weekend.
