Brookwood 55, Central Gwinnett 45

How the game was won: Brookwood outscored Central Gwinnett 20-0 in the third quarter to erase a 10-point halftime deficit and claim a 41-31 lead entering the final frame. Central Gwinnett quarterback and Kentucky-commit Jarren Williams was sensational and completed 18-of-22 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 44 yards and a score to build Central Gwinnett’s 31-21 halftime lead. Brookwood got going with a 53-yard kickoff return in the first quarter by Matthew Hill that set up a Guillermo Luna 3-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 14-7. Hill scored the first of his three touchdowns to open the second quarter and tie the game 14-14. After a 43-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Jallah Zeze gave Central Gwinnett a 21-14 lead, Brookwood’s Dante Black answered with a 3-yard touchdown run with 4:45 left in the half. A 25-yard field goal with five seconds left in the half and Williams’ third touchdown pass pushed tallied the halftime score. Luna sparked Brookwood’s dominant third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Black gave Brookwood its first lead of the game (34-31) with his second rushing score of the game. Black had been sidelined for the past three weeks with a high ankle sprain. Amir Berry came up with a forced fumble and 83-yard fumble return touchdown on the ensuing Central Gwinnett possession and gave the Broncos their 41-31 lead. Central Gwinnett capitalized on a Brookwood fumble to open the final quarter and cut the deficit to 41-38. Hill quickly answered with his second rushing touchdown of the game to push the lead back to 48-38. Williams rushed for his second touchdown on a 4th and goal from the 1-yard line with 3:25 left to make it 48-45. The Black Knights failed an onside attempt, and Hill punched in his third touchdown with 54 seconds to clinch the victory.

Top Performers: Central Gwinnett quarterback Jarren Williams passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for two scores. Brookwood’s Matthew Hill ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while teammate Dante Black added 126 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Prince Avenue Christian 48, Hebron Christian 17

How the game was won: Prince Avenue ripped of 27-straight points after Hebron Christian took a 3-0 lead on a field goal with 2:18 left in the first quarter. The Wolverines scored nearly every way imaginable, using a kick return, punt return, fumble recovery and touchdown run to gain a commanding first half lead.

Top Performers: Thomas Huff scored on runs of one and five yards. Tyler Roberts returned a kick 70 yards and Christian Parrish took a punt back 55 yards. Collin Sweet returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown. Noah Campbell and Nick Brown scored on touchdown runs of seven and five yards, respectively.
