Former Tattnall, River North basketball coach dies

Marty Allman, a high school basketball head coach whose career included stops at Tattnall Square, John Milledge, River North Academy and Barnesville Academy, died Friday at the age of 64.
Allman, who graduated from Lanier in 1969, attended LSU on a basketball scholarship and was a teammate of NBA legend Pete Maravich.
As a high school head coach, he led the Barnesville Academy girls to the 1982-83 GISA Class AA title, according to records posted on the GISA Stats website.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday at the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road.
