Elbert County football hires Waggoner as head coach
Elbert County hired Brad Waggoner as head football coach on Friday to replace the retiring Sid Fritts.
Waggoner in 2018 led Trousdale County of Hartsville, Tenn., to the Tennessee Class 2A championship game. His two-season record there was 19-8.
From 2014 to 2017, he was the associate director of player personnel and offensive analyst for Georgia Tech under Paul Johnson. Waggoner has been a head coach in Georgia at Chattooga, Decatur and Lumpkin County. He’s coached at several colleges including Alabama as a graduate assistant.
Waggoner played high school ball at Landmark Christian, then at Georgia Tech for two years before finishing up at Liberty University.
Elbert County, a Region 8-AA school in northeast Georgia, was 75-30 in 10 seasons under Fritts, 7-4 last season.
