Dylan Fromm named Mr. Georgia Football by Touchdown Club of Atlanta
Warner Robins quarterback Dylan Fromm received the Touchdown Club of Atlanta’s Mr. Georgia Football Award at the group’s annual awards banquet Thursday night at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria.
Fromm, who will play for Mercer next season, was 348-of-544 passing for 4,362 yards and 46 touchdowns in his senior season. In two seasons with the Demons, Fromm passed for 7,867 yards and led his team to a 26-4 record and back-to-back runner-up finishes in Class AAAAA.
Fromm’s older brother, Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, won the same award for the 2016 season.
Fromm’s teammate at Warner Robins, wide receiver Marcayll Jones, and Eagle’s Landing Christian running back Keaton Mitchell shared the Little Peach Award, presented to the state’s top underclassmen. Jones finished with a state-record 2,046 receiving yards on 115 catches. Mitchell rushed for 2,509 yards and 49 touchdowns for an ELCA team that won its fourth consecutive state championship in the Class A private-school division.
Taulia Tagovailoa of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., received the Bobby Dodd National Back of the Year Award. Nakobe Dean of Horn Lake (Miss.) High School, was named the Bobby Dodd National Lineman/Linebacker of the Year. Tagovailoa will play at Alabama with his brother, Tua. Dean will play for Georgia.
The eight state championship head coaches received Coach of the Year awards. Those went to Adam Clack of Milton (AAAAAAA), Dean Fabrizio of Lee County, Jeff Littleton of Bainbridge (AAAAA), Tim McFarlin of Blessed Trinity (AAAA), Jimmy Smith of Cedar Grove (AAA), Tim Barron of Heard County (AA), Jim Dickerson of Clinch County (A public) and Jonathan Gess of ELCA (A private).
The Touchdown Club also presented its state all-star team.
Offensive players were: QB Jordan Yates, Milton (Georgia Tech); RB Jamious Griffin, Rome (N.C. State); RB Steele Chambers, Blessed Trinity (Notre Dame); WR Dominick Blaylock, Walton (Georgia); WR Malik Washington, Parkview (Northwestern); WR Jadon Haselwood, Cedar Grove (Oklahoma); OL Jeremy James, North Forsyth (Mississippi); OL Wanya Morris, Grayson (Tennessee); OL Harry Miller, Buford (Ohio State); OL Nick Pendley, Creekview (Mississippi State); OL Chris Hinton, GAC (Michigan); and ATH Chandler Byron, Monroe Area (TBD).
Defensive honorees were: DL Mataio Soli, Douglas County (Arkansas); DL Travon Walker, Upson-Lee (Georgia); DL Colby Wooden, Archer (Auburn); LB Allen Walker, Milton (Louisiana Tech); LB JD Bertrand, Blessed Trinity (Notre Dame): LB Tyron Hopper, Roswell (Florida); LB Owen Pappoe, Grayson (Auburn): DB Joseph Charleston, Milton (Clemson); DB Zach Ranson, St. Pius (Wake Forest); DB Kyle Hamilton, Marist (Notre Dame); DB Andrew Booth, Archer (Clemson); and P/K Charlie Ham, Westminster (Duke).
