Etowah 56, Campbell 0
Patrick Ferris tossed touchdowns and ran for a 34-yard score as the Eagles blitzed Campbell. Ferris hit Blake Jones on a 30-yard pass and Nick Oliver from 57 yards out to pace the Eagles attack. Tyray Devezin opened up the game with an 80-yard touchdown run that set the tone. On just the fourth play of the season, Alan Michael returned an interception 50 yards to make it 14-0 just minutes into the game. Blaine Miller added a 66-yard interception return and Devezin struck from 14 yards out to make it 35-0 in the second quarter. Ameer Salame put a capper on the scoring with his 8-yard touchdown run.
Lassiter 27, Johns Creek 13
How the game was won: Lassiter held just a 13-6 lead after a scoreless third quarter, but the host Trojans got two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns to take a 27-6 lead and ice the game.
Top performers: BT Riopelle got scoring started for Lassiter when he hit Derrik Allen for a long second-quarter touchdown. Riopelle also rushed for a five-yard score in the second quarter to give Lassiter its 13-6 halftime lead. Lassiter’s final two touchdowns were short rushes from Mason Waters.
Wheeler 35, Marietta 19
How the game was won: Wheeler quarterback Gabe Magerkurth found TJ Smith late in the third quarter to give visiting Wheeler a 28-19 lead then clinched the victory with a three-yard rushing touchdown from Davion Wright in the fourth quarter.
Top performers: Magerkurth had four touchdown passes, three to Smith (two in the first quarter, the second for 70 yards) and a short one to Justin Hargett in the second quarter.
Harrison 45, East Paulding 15
How the game was won: Harrison junior quarterback Justin Fields found Steve Peterson for three of his four passing touchdowns as the visiting Hoyas grew a 42-7 halftime lead. Fields also scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter. Darius Clarke added a 1-yard touchdown run after East Paulding’s botched snap gifted Harrison the field position.
Top performers: Fields threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another in the first half. Peterson caught touchdown passes of 65, nine and 64 yards. Marquis Alston Jr. caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Fields and sophomore kicker Alex Rayner gave Harrison its only points of the second half with a 42-yard field goal.
