Breaking News: Robert Wilson leaving Westlake to take AP/AD role at Shiloh
It’s the end of an era at Westlake.
After leading the Lions to a sweep of the boys and girls Class AAAAAAA state titles last week, head coach Robert Wilson announced at the team banquet that he is leaving the south Fulton County school to take a job as an assistant principal and athletic director at Shiloh in Gwinnett County.
“It was a tough, tough decision because I love this program so much,” Wilson said Thursday. “I wasn’t looking to go anywhere and I’ve turned down a lot of job offers in the past. But this opportunity comes at the right time for me and my family.”
Wilson, a 1995 graduate of Westlake, took over the track program in 2006 and promptly led the Lion boys team to its first state title. This year was the second time the boys have won state, while the girls squad now has five titles, three in the last four seasons.
We’ll have more details in an extended piece on Tuesday.
