Over the first month of the season, Arabia Mountain’s high-octane offense torched the opposition in non-region play. Following the debut of their Region 5-AAAAA schedule, the Rams put the league on notice that this theme will continue for the remainder of the year.

Arabia Mountain (No. 7 AAAAA) solidified this stance after posting a 44-6 rout over Miller Grove at Avondale Stadium.

“This is a first region game and we wanted to make a statement. The offense played with tempo and the defense played lights-out football. This was a great team win. When you can put up 44 points, you have to be proud of the guys. We just want to take it one game at a time.”

The Rams’ scoring fest began with a 30-yard run by Carl White III in the first quarter. White’s run was capped off by a 2-point conversion to give Arabia Mountain an 8-0 lead.

Second-quarter touchdowns came through the air from quarterback Samad Noble. The senior singular caller connected with Eric Ross for a 20-yard strike and Desmond Rocker for a 40-yard reception. These scores put the Rams up 22-0 at intermission.

The Rams began second half with a leaping interception by Terray Bryant on the first play from scrimmage. From there, Arabia Mountain capitalized on the opportunity with an electrifying run by Brandon Snowball. The halfback ducked under and dodged by would-be tacklers before cruising to the end zone for 15-yard touchdown. Another successful 2-point conversion pushed the lead to 30-0. White concluded the third quarter with two more touchdowns to put an exclamation mark on the contest. He now has seven rushing scores for the season.

“It was a hard-fought game. I got the first touchdown to set us off. I give all the credit to my offensive line. We kept the intensity up and got the job done,” said White. “After we lost to East Coweta [20-14, Sept. 23], we wanted to go even harder the next game. Our goal was to go undefeated. We wanted to come out here and let everyone know we still have that drive for state. We put 44. We average 33.5 points per game. Our defense is tough. We just have to keep going.”

Miller Grove’s offense sputtered all evening.

The Wolverines had three turnovers and a punt blocked in the loss. Arabia Mountain converted each turnover into points. Miller Grove crossed midfield twice and didn’t reach the red zone until 2:07 left in the third quarter.

Despite their closeness in proximity, this was only the third meeting between the two DeKalb County schools. Arabia Mountain has now won two in a row in this series.

With this latest triumph, Arabia Mountain improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the league. The Rams next face Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Miller Grove’s setback drops its record to 2-4 and 0-1 in the region. The Wolverines are in the midst of a bad run with a four-game losing streak. Next week, Miller Grove takes on Southwest DeKalb.
