Now that we have reached the halfway point in the season, it’s time to take a little closer look at the Georgia High School Association/MaxPreps Power Ratings.

Two new teams sit atop the public and private lists this week. On the private side, Landmark Christian rose two spaces into the top spot. Last week’s No. 1, First Presbyterian, was knocked off by Twiggs County and fell to No. 6 this week.

Speaking of Twiggs, the Cobras are the new No. 1 on the public side, swapping places with last week’s top team, McIntosh County Academy. Twiggs’ 29-17 win over FPD gave it more points than McIntosh County Academy’s 31-12 win over Savannah Christian.

Here are this week’s lists, highlighting the team with the worst record currently in the top 24, the team with the best record that is out of the top 24, the team that climbed the highest from last week, and the team that fell the furthest.

How bias is this blog towards south Georgia schools?! You have a Calvary team for example who took the trip to Aquinas and beat them hands down but in still behind them and two other 2 loss teams in “your polls”. I mean you can talk about toughness in schedule but how many trips do southern schools needs to take to Atlanta in order to seem worthy according to your standards? Meanwhile on Maxpreps they are ranked nearly at the top of the polls? This blog is a joke and is definitely not what it used to be.
